Hi there. It is that time of year, again, when we hold our annual meeting (& picnic) and give the neighborhood an update on the Board’s activities for the year.
It has been a very quiet year. Mainly we have been addressing sidewalks and walk ways, in order for pedestrians to have a safe walking experience around the neighborhood. On Southcliff the attention was primarily on getting mud, leaves and trash off the sidewalk, so walkers don’t have to walk in the street, and to keep the neighborhood attractive. I know I love our quiet, narrow and rural streets, so I appreciate our efforts to keep our neighborhood beautiful. We have a couple of do-gooders(do they want to be named?) on our Board who cut the grass and weeds along lower Pennsylvania (River Road) in the summer, so there is room off the road for people to walk. I feel the most important service we can provide is being a good neighbor. I ran across a list of neighborly actions from an earlier edition of this newsletter, and I would like to suggest we all take a new look at how we are doing. Do you: Take the time to be acquainted with your neighbors? Keep aware of what is going on in the neighborhood to help reduce crime? Drive the right speed (slow), considering blind corners, narrow streets and hills? Leash your dogs and pick up their poop? Keep your dogs from barking unnecessarily? Keep your garbage cans out of the road and take them in after weekly pick-up? Pick up trash around the neighborhood? Keep your noise level reasonable? Inform your neighbors if you are having a large party (unusual noise and parking situations)? Watch watering so water doesn’t flow into the street? Thank you for your participation in our efforts to preserve and keep beautiful our little corner of Fair Oaks.
