Greetings and salutations! Our annual FOARG neighborhood picnic and annual meeting is right around the corner. This gives us (FOARG) the opportunity to give the neighborhood an update on activities of the past year and a chance to meet with our new neighbors and old friends. The FOARG exists to preserve the rural feel of our neighborhood and to share information to keep our neighbors informed. This year a developer sought to transform 2.4 acres on Magnolia Avenue into an eleven-parcel subdivision. Individual neighbors and Board Members wrote letters, provided feedback and attended meetings. The Fair Oaks Community Planning Advisory Council (CPAC), County Planning, our neighbors and the FOARG Board members were all concerned with the proposed density. General consensus was that four or five parcels was more consistent with our neighborhood. The developer abandoned the development because the cost per parcel would not be economically viable to continue development. Recently, the parcel was for sale. To reiterate, the FOARG is not against development. It is for development that is consistent with the rural nature of our neighborhood. The eco-housing project is under full development. We can expect activity will continue for the next couple of years. When the interior roads are complete, hopefully the impact on traffic will be reduced.
